PRINCE & PRINCE2 Methodology Using Lotus Notes
PRINCE® stands for Projects in Controlled Environments. It was developed by the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) as a standard for IT project management by the UK Government.
While it was developed for IT projects, PRINCE is also used for non-IT projects,in both the public and private sectors. PRINCE2 is the latest version of this methodology.
PRINCE with Lotus Notes
PRINCE is a configurable, scalable process-based approach for project management. Processes are defined with specific objectives and activities. Projects are divided into stages, and each stage is carefully monitored to ensure consistent progress.
USING LOTUS NOTES: Within Project Tracker, Tracker Suite offers project management templates which can be used to quickly assemble repeatable project routines. Within the project definition document project baselines and milestones can be set. Project Tracker automatically notifies project managers and staff when their project status reports are due, ensuring their timely submission. These status reports are easily accessed within the project document, providing a simple means for executives to review the progress of their projects.
In PRINCE, project planning is product-based, and is driven by the business case of the project goal. Throughout the project lifecycle, this goal is reviewed to ensure the business objectives are still being met.
USING LOTUS NOTES: Tracker Suite's project definition document contains a mile-high view of the project's objective and expected ROI within the project program.
One of the developments within PRINCE2 is the facilitation of communication with customers, vendors and users. PRINCE2 does not offer set processes for CRM and contract management, but its methodology can be applied successfully to these frameworks.
While it was developed for IT projects, PRINCE is also used for non-IT projects,in both the public and private sectors. PRINCE2 is the latest version of this methodology.
USING LOTUS NOTES: Project Tracker's integration with Customer Tracker and Purchase Tracker facilitates customer/ vendor communications and routines. In addition, contacts within the Customer Tracker database can be provided user accounts on the company's Web site, allowing them to submit both project requests as well as help desk tickets for Support Tracker.
Benefits of PRINCE using Lotus Notes
The PRINCE methodology provides a flexible framework for the management of projects and encourage communication within the project community as well as with customers and vendors.
Tracker Suite's applications lend themselves in a natural way to this methodology. By utilizing Lotus Notes, with its inherent workflow design, Name & Address Book and Calendar, Tracker Suite augments the communication philosophy of PRINCE, with automated reminders and notifications, scheduling and contact management.
